Ahmaud Arbery.
Ahmaud Arbery was 25 when he was shot and killed while going for a run in the neighborhood of Satilla Shores by Travis McMichael, 35, and his father, Gregory McMichael, 65. Arbery was loved by many and taken too soon from this world.
After a long wait and trial, Travis McMichael and Gregory McMichael received life sentences without the possibility of parole. The life sentence for their neighbor, William Bryan, allows for the possibility of parole after 30 years.
The men also face potential life sentences in federal court, where they are being charged with hate crimes and attempted kidnapping.
Jury selection in that case is scheduled to begin on Feb. 7.
Marc Wilson.
Marc Wilson, 22, has been jailed since mid-June 2020 on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault in the death of 17-year-old Haley Hutcheson. Wilson fired a handgun from behind the wheel of his car in self-defense after teenagers in another truck yelled racist slurs and tried to run Wilson and his white girlfriend off the road.
Marc’s trial is ongoing and he is currently awaiting trial in the recusal of Judge Muldrew.
